Ad Age names Napier to list of most influential women in advertising

Sharon Napier, CEO of Rochester-based marketing communications and branding firm Partners + Napier Inc., has been named to Advertising Age magazine’s list of the “100 Most Influential Women in Advertising.”

Ad Age, an industry trade magazine published by Crain Communications Inc., released the first-ever list Monday. It is part of a special issue celebrating Advertising Women of New York’s 100th anniversary.

The list was put together by Ad Age’s staff, which took into account reader nominations. Napier was recognized in a section titled “The Rainmakers,” dedicated to industry trailblazers.

Napier, 53, led the successful buyout of Partners + Napier in 2004. Since then she has led the company in building a national client list that includes Constellation Brands Inc., Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and Delta Private Jets Inc. Last year, Napier managed the acquisition of Partners + Napier by Michigan-based Project: Worldwide, an independent global agency network.

Joining Napier on Ad Age’s list were industry icons such as Marissa Mayer, president of Yahoo Inc.; Gertrude Boyle, chairman of Columbia Sportswear Co., Peggy Charren, founder of Action for Children’s Television; and media-mogul Oprah Winfrey.

“I’m truly honored to be counted among these advertising pioneers, many who inspired me to start my own agency,” Napier said. “I’m so glad Ad Age is celebrating women’s contributions to our industry with this issue, and inspiring future generations to build new things, take the helm, and take bold steps.”
