Car sales rise in September compared with last year

New and used car sales in Monroe County improved more than 9 percent from a year ago, the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported. Sales fell from August.
 
Some 3,627 new vehicles were sold in September, up more than 12 percent increase from 3,232 a year ago. Sales declined 7 percent decrease from 3,900 in August.

Used car sales rose to 1,869 from 1,793 in September 2011; sales were down from 2,096 in August.
 
New and used car sales typically fall from August to September, RADA historical data shows.

Monroe County auto dealers sold 5,496 new and used cars and trucks last month up more than 9 percent from 5,025 in September 2011, but down more than 8 percent from 5,996 in August.

Some 50,072 vehicles have been sold here since January, up more than 5 percent from 47,524 in the first nine months last year.
