John Waters to perform in Rochester in December

Rochester Business Journal
November 13, 2012

John Waters is coming to the Hochstein Performance Hall in December for a one-man show titled "A John Waters Christmas."

The show, which takes place Dec. 16, is part of ImageOut: The Rochester LGBT Film and Video Festival. Best known as the writer and director of the Broadway and motion picture hit “Hairspray,” Waters is slated to present a Christmas show he calls a "self-help show."

"Some people hate (Christmas) or don't believe in it," Waters said. "I know some people find it a very stressful time. I have advice for everybody (whether) you love or hate it—it’s a self-help show."

Tickets for the show are $35 and available online at ImageOut.org. Waters also is slated to appear at a VIP reception before the performance, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at The Ellwanger Estate on Mt. Hope Avenue. Tickets for the reception are $50 for ImageOut members.
