Fibertech Networks launches expansion in Ohio

Rochester Business Journal
December 3, 2012

Fibertech Networks LLC said Monday it has embarked on its biggest network expansion since the company’s inception in 2000.

Based in Brighton, Fibertech installs and leases capacity on fiber-optic networks to business and telecommunications carriers. The company announced it will build new fiber networks in Ohio, in the cities of Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton and Toledo, while increasing its existing network in Columbus.

The company said it already has major anchor tenant agreements in place in each of the markets.

“This is a major expansion for Fibertech and a critical step in our development as one of the largest and fastest-growing metro fiber providers in the Eastern U.S.,” said John Purcell, CEO of Fibertech, in a statement. “Our expansion into these new markets will ensure Ohio businesses with cost-effective alternatives for their critical bandwidth applications while enhancing economic development initiatives in each of the communities we’re investing in.”

Fibertech said it owns more than 8,400 route miles of metro networks in 23 markets, primarily on the East Coast.
