RF Communications contract worth potentially $85M

Rochester Business Journal

Harris Corp.’s RF Communications division in Rochester has been awarded a contract that could reach $85 million to provide the U.S. Air Force with tactical radios and accessories. The division received initial delivery orders of $33 million.

The Air Force will deploy the radios across ground units for voice and wideband data communications, the company said. The equipment provides the Air Force with connectivity to the global information grid, supporting existing and emerging network-enabled missions.

RF Communications ranked third on the most recent Rochester Business Journal list of manufacturers and employs some 2,200 local workers.

Florida-based Harris is scheduled to report its second-quarter financial results Jan. 29.
