A free, family-friendly New Year's Eve Celebration is planned 7 to 10 p.m. Monday at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, city officials announced Wednesday.
Highlights include a dance party by Jimmy C's Music Machine and kid-friendly inflatable attractions, including a giant bounce house, climbing wall, obstacle course, bungee run and a giant slide.
There will be crafts and games, as well as a photo booth, caricature artists, airbrush tattoo artists, a stilt walker, clowns and a magician.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Camp Good Days and Special Times will sell kazoos to help ring in the new year for a $1 donation.
At 9:50 p.m., Mayor Thomas Richards will welcome the crowd outside the Convention Center front doors. Gary Mervis, founder and chairman of Camp Good Days and Special Times, will lead the crowd in a KazooFest. The evening culminates with the New Year’s Eve fireworks finale, which begin at 10 p.m.
The Main Street Bridge provides one of the best viewing spot for the fireworks, city officials said.
Free ice skating is planned at Manhattan Square Park Ice Rink. Visitors downtown can park free from 6 to 11 p.m. at the South Avenue, Washington Square, Court Street and the Sister Cities parking garages.
