Burns & Schultz law firm joins with Davidson Fink LLP

Rochester Business Journal
January 18, 2013

Andrew Burns and Jill Schultz have joined Davidson Fink LLP.

The move of their two-partner firm, Burns & Schultz LLP, was effective Jan. 1, Burns said.

The pair formed Burns & Schultz in 2007. Both previously had been partners in Nixon Peabody LLP's Rochester office. Schultz's practice centers on labor and employment law. Burns does general commercial as well as labor and employment litigation.

An offer to join Davidson Fink came fortuitously as he and Schultz were contemplating trying to grow their firm and were about to negotiate a new lease on its First Federal Plaza office, Burns said. Both he and Schultz had worked with Davidson Fink lawyers and saw the firm as a good fit for themselves.

"We've enjoyed working as a very small firm, but we were getting larger cases and beginning to think it would helpful to be part of a somewhat larger firm. This is just about the right size," Burns said.

Another point in favor of the move was that Davidson Fink's offices are also in First Federal Plaza, so they needed only to relocate eight floors up to the building's 17th floor, he added. Their full-time legal assistant also has moved to Davidson Fink.

Davidson Fink ranked 11th on the Rochester Business Journal's most recent list of law firms with 22 attorneys.
