The George Eastman House is the first museum of photography selected to be included in the Google Art Project, the organization announced Wednesday.

As part of the project, the museum has added high-resolution photographs to be shared across Google’s platform. The resolution of the images combined with a custom-built zoom viewer allows users the ability to discover details never before seen, museum officials said.

The initial group of 50 Eastman House photographs included in the Google Art Project spans the 1840s through the late 20th century and includes nearly every photographic process from the 174 years of the medium's existence, museum officials said.

Featured subjects include Frida Kahlo, Martin Luther King Jr., the first train wreck ever photographed, the Lincoln conspirators, the Egyptian pyramids and Sphinx in the 1850s and a portrait of photo pioneer Daguerre.

“Our partnership with Google is an exciting endeavor and truly opens the door to our photography vault, with a reach unlike ever before," said Bruce Barnes, the Ron and Donna Fielding Director of George Eastman House. “This online exhibition experience allows for high-resolution and high-level research of photographs from our immense archive-revealed and shared with an international community."

The site also features the Corning Museum of Glass.
