Wegmans rolls out summer price freeze list

Rochester Business Journal
April 4, 2013

Wegmans Food Markets Inc. has announced another seasonal price freeze.

The prices on more than 65 summer products will be frozen through Aug. 24, company officials said. Wegmans said even if its costs for products on the list increase, it will not increase retail prices during the freeze period.

The complete list of products was made available at Wegmans.com Thursday and includes items such as a club pack of boneless chicken breast, chopped salad blends, littleneck clams and hot dog and hamburger rolls.

“Based on every measure we have considered, it is clear that the simplicity and relevance of a seasonal list where prices are locked in for several months works for our customers,” said Colleen Wegman, president of Wegmans, in a statement. “And, it is not just a way to budget and save money; it’s also a tool for planning a healthy meal.”

The company also said it will continue to offer free prescriptions for cholesterol-lowering medication Atorvastatin, up to a 90-day supply, through the end of 2013.
