Two prospective SUNY College at Geneseo students, picked to live on the school’s campus, will see what happens when their lives stop being academic and start getting real.
The campus has been selected as the setting for an upcoming reality television show produced by an Indian television crew. The show called “College Hunt: USA,” is produced jointly by the U.S. Consulate General of the United States in Mumbai and Channel V, an international television network owned by Star TV and Fox International channels.
The three-part show will follow four prospective students, two male and two female, who spend four days on the SUNY Geneseo campus. They attend classes and visit with faculty and students, getting involved in campus life to see if Geneseo is a good fit for their college education.
The production company followed the same students’ visits to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Ohio Wesleyan University. Geneseo was selected as an exemplar of a mid-size public liberal arts college, college officials said.
“We are delighted to welcome these students and the ‘College Hunt: USA’ team to Geneseo and greatly appreciate the support of the U.S. Consulate’s initiative,” said Mary Hope, director of international student services at Geneseo. “It’s an ideal opportunity for them to sample life as a university student in the United States and for Geneseo to showcase some of its unique strengths.”
The college has a growing international reach, with 170 students coming from 30 countries. Ten of those students are from India, and the college also has several faculty members of Indian descent, college officials noted.
