RF Communications gets $36 million in orders

Rochester Business Journal

Harris Corp.’s RF Communications division in Rochester has received $36 million in orders from U.S. Special Operations Command to accelerate its deployment of an advanced wideband tactical communications system.

The company said it will supply manpack and handheld radios that will give Special Operations Forces critical wireless broadband capabilities even in remote, harsh battlefield conditions.

“Harris radios will enable Special Operations Forces to stay connected as a team, even when operating far from each other or a tactical operations center," said George Helm, president of RF Communications’ Department of Defense business unit, in a statement.

RF Communications employs some 2,100 local workers.
