Plan for Thruway delays, closures during Obama visit

Rochester Business Journal

New York State Thruway travelers should prepare for temporary road closures and delays Thursday and Friday—possibility including the Rochester area—because of President Barack Obama’s tour of Upstate New York, officials said Wednesday.

The New York State Thruway Authority has received no indication that the President will stop in the Rochester area, a spokesman said. Obama is scheduled to visit Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany and Scranton, Pa.

Motorists may encounter temporary road closures, slow or stopped traffic on the Thruway, and delays in entering the Thruway at certain interchanges and from service plazas and rest areas, authority officials said in a statement.
