Farmington’s Leonard’s Express Inc. has acquired Diamond State Warehousing and Distribution. Financial details of the acquisition, which is expected to close Sept. 9, were not disclosed.

Diamond State—based in New Castle, Del.—offers warehousing, refrigerated storage and freight transport services with more than 40 tractors. Founders Pat and Rich Bastian will continue to work with the company in management capacities.

“We are excited to add this portfolio of services to the Leonard’s group of customers as Diamond’s services complement our network and brings some additional, diversified offerings to our customer base,” Leonard’s CEO Ken Johnson said. “We find the business models and culture of Diamond and Leonard’s to be very compatible.”

Leonard’s is a family-owned transportation provider with 17 office locations throughout the U.S. The firm and its affiliates provide transportation solutions including rail, marine container, flatbed, less-than-truckload and truckload shipping.
