Businessman to lead local CEO leadership group

A local financial executive and former U.S. Navy officer is leading a local CEO leadership group.

John Calia recently launched the Vistage Group, which will meet monthly to discuss business issues and share expertise.

Calia will chair the group and joins nearly 400 Vistage chairs who lead similar group that total more than 17,000 members in 15 countries.

Calia began his career as a Naval officer serving five years active duty, including assignments as executive officer of a Navy minesweeper and office in charge of an aviation refueling operation.

After leaving the Navy, he began his corporate career at Citibank and subsequently moved to Goldman Sachs & Co., where he was responsible for precious metals trading activities. He has been the CEO of four companies including a division of a public company. 

Founded in 1957 and headquartered in San Diego, Calif., Vistage International Inc. provides executive coaching and assembles and facilitates private advisory boards for CEOs, senior executives and business owners.
