Two finalists will be selected for induction. To date there have been 51 toys inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame, including the jump rope, Hot Wheels, G.I. Joe and the stick.

The National Toy Hall of Fame receives thousands of nominations by mail and email each year, officials said. The 2013 inductees are chosen by a national selection committee based on a number of factors, including icon status.

The toys selected for the Hall of Fame will be announced on Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m. The induction ceremony will include a guest appearance by a nationally syndicated cartoonist who will unveil two custom cartoons featuring the inductees.
