Cooley Group acquires Proforma I.F.

Cooley Group Inc. Tuesday said it has acquired Proforma I.F. Print Services, its largest competitor in Rochester.
Proforma I.F. is part of the national company Proforma, officially PFG Ventures L.P., based in Cleveland.

Proforma I.F. owner David Kolko, who has been with the company his father founded for 21 years, and the company's three other employees, will become brand consultants for Cooley, effective immediately. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
With the acquisition, Cooley, which has been employee-owned since the 1950s, has a staff of 32. In addition to its headquarters in Rochester, Cooley maintains offices in Albany, Hudson Valley, Syracuse and Utica.

"This is a perfect fit for both companies," said Stuart Boyar (above), Cooley chairman and CEO, in a statement. "Proforma I.F. does a significant amount of business in Buffalo so this acquisition will complete Cooley's geographic footprint in New York.”
Clarence Cooley founded the Cooley firm in 1945. The company—located on Linden Avenue—has grown to become the 25th largest industrywide in the United States, reports the Print Services & Distribution Association, an international trade association for the print distribution industry.
Proforma IF Print Services began in 1975.
Together, Cooley and Proforma I.F.'s customers include local businesses and organizations, such as Wegmans Food Markets Inc., Xerox Corp. and Rochester Institute of Technology.
