OLEDWorks LLC in Rochester was awarded $491,000 and R-Display & Lighting LLC in Webster was awarded $100,000 for energy efficiency initiatives, officials announced Tuesday.

The funding is part of $4.8 million awarded statewide through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s Advanced Buildings Program, which will provide $25 million over three years, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

OLEDWorks will use its funding to improve its organic light-emitting diode manufacturing processes to make the product more affordable, officials said.

R-Display will use the funds to develop efficient and stable OLED materials for lighting devices, officials said.

The announced awards comprise the second of six rounds of funding, officials said.

“As we work to encourage innovation statewide, these public-private partnerships will help homeowners and businesses save money by reducing their energy footprint,” Cuomo said in a statement.

“This investment will help grow the state’s clean energy economy and better protect the environment at the same time.”
