Vuzix adds voice recognition to smart glasses technology

Vuzix Corp., a video eyewear company specializing in smart glasses, will incorporate voice recognition into its M100 smart glasses.

The smart glasses are a wearable display platform that run industry-specific software applications.

Nuance Communications will power the vocal capabilities of the product, without a data connection required, company officials said. The M100 smart glasses will include noise-canceling technology that lets users control the M100 menu system by speaking commands such as "scroll left and select application," "list next pick item" and "navigate to location."

"By integrating Nuance's voice technology into our M100 platform, we've given our customers even greater flexibility in the way they can use our smart glasses to solve issues that challenge their business,” Vuzix CEO Paul Travers said in a statement.
