EnPro awaits ruling by judge

Rochester Business Journal
January 10, 2014

EnPro Industries Inc. expects to find out late Friday afternoon the value of current and future mesothelioma claims in an asbestos liability trial against Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC.

The North Carolina-based company this week said it had been informed by Judge George Hodges of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina that he plans to issue his opinion estimating the value the claims against Garlock after 4 p.m.

The opinion follows the completion of an estimation trial before Hodges in July and August of 2013.

The company has scheduled a conference call for 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13 to review the opinion with investors and discuss next steps in the process.

Palmyra, Wayne County-based Garlock is a deconsolidated subsidiary of EnPro.

In 2010, Garlock filed a voluntary petition to establish a trust to resolve all current and future asbestos claims under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
