Diocese tops $5 million in appeal

Rochester Business Journal
January 10, 2014

The Diocese of Rochester has topped $5 million in its annual appeal, the seventh consecutive year of reaching the milestone.

On Friday the Diocese announced that nearly 28,000 Roman Catholic households committed a total of $5.15 million to this year's Catholic Ministries Appeal. The appeal is now on pace to beat last year's campaign and set a new record by raising $5.4 million, officials noted. The campaign runs through May.

The Diocese uses funding from the appeal to support parishes, including providing training for catechetical leaders and funding youth ministry programs, pastoral planning, migrant ministry, grants to inner city parishes and education.

The goal for the campaign is $5.875 million.
