AT&T Inc. has expanded its 4G LTE network to Monroe, Livingston, Ontario and Wayne counties.

The expansion is part of AT&T’s Project Velocity IP, a three-year investment plan that aims to expand and improve its Internet protocol broadband networks, company officials said.

AT&T said the new coverage includes:

  • Monroe County: sections of Braddock Bay, Brockport, Bushnell’s Basin, Churchville, Clarkson, Coldwater, Fairport, Gates, Greece, Henrietta, Hilton, Honeoye Falls, Irondequoit, Mendon, Ogden, Parma Corners, Penfield, Pittsford, Scottsville and Webster, along the Thruway, and parts of routes  31, 104, 390, 490 and 590;
  • Livingston County: areas of Avon, Geneseo, Lakeville and Lima and along routes 5, 6, 15, 20 and 390;
  • Ontario County: portions of Bloomfield, Canandaigua, Clifton Springs, Farmington, Manchester and Phelps;
  • Wayne County: parts of Clyde, Galen, Huron, Lyons, Macedon, Marion, Palmyra, Rose, Savannah, Sodus, Walworth, Wayne, Wayneport, Williamson and Wolcott, and along routes 14, 21, 31, 104 and 414;

“The expansion of 4G LTE wireless network coverage is an incredible benefit for the residents of Monroe, Livingston, and Wayne counties,” said Sandra Parker, Rochester Business Alliance Inc. president and CEO in a statement. “This is positive news for the economic development of the region and for those who depend upon wireless devices to conduct business, gather information, and stay connected with family and friends.

“Reliable wireless coverage is vital to local economic competitiveness, growth and opportunity.”

The main benefits of the network are faster speeds, reliability, new devices, faster response time, and more efficiency of the wireless spectrum, AT&T officials said.

“We continue to see demand for mobile Internet skyrocket, and our 4G LTE network expansion in Rochester responds to what customers want from their mobile experience—more, faster, reliably, on the best devices,” said Marissa Shorenstein, New York president of AT&T in a statement.
