MicroGen Systems Inc. will get $455,000 and Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corp. $422,000 in state funding for energy efficiency products, officials announced.

MicroGen, a Henrietta-based maker of microscale products that convert vibration from industrial and building equipment into power for wireless sensors, plans to commercialize a micro-power product that harvests energy from flexing tires on vehicles to power tire-pressure monitoring systems.

Arnold, a Pittsford manufacturer of components for electric motors, plans to add high-speed, high-temperature motors for electric and conventional vehicles.

Two other Rochester-area companies also will get funding.

AirFlow Catalyst Systems Corp. in Brighton will get $121,000 to help fund its work with AppliedLogix LLC in Perinton on a diesel emission control system for niche markets such as mining, marine and rail.

NOHMs Technologies Inc. in Rochester will get $75,000 to commercialize electrolytes designed to improve the performance of batteries under development for electric vehicles.

The projects are among 17 being funded with $4.3 million in competitive grants through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, state officials said in a news release last week.
