The Simon Business School at the University of Rochester ventured to New York City on Thursday, featuring two local executives at its fifth annual conference held there.

Robert Wilmers, CEO of M&T Bank Corp., was one of the featured speakers, which coincides with a push from the Simon School to expand into the downstate region. The school has introduced new programs in New York City and expanded connections with alumni and donors in the nation’s financial capital.

At the conference, the school named Robert Sands, president and CEO of Constellation Brands Inc., as Executive of the Year. The award honors a business leader who has made a groundbreaking contribution to his or her organization and exemplified the spirit of leadership, Simon leaders noted.

“Rob Sands, with his late father, Marvin, and brother, Richard, has built Constellation Brands into an international powerhouse in the wine, spirits and beer industry,” said Mark Zupan, Simon School dean. “We are proud to recognize Rob’s outstanding professional and philanthropic achievements by presenting him the Executive of the Year Award.”
