Some Enchanted Evening;Beginning on April 25, the sounds of music from the third floor of the Auditorium Center will be filled with Rodgers and Hammerstein favorites; Songs from “Oklahoma,” “South Pacific,” “The Sound of Music,” “Carousel” and other Broadway hits are the centerpiece of the 9th annual musical revue presented by A Magical Journey Thru Stages; “Some Enchanted Evening” includes 20 performers from around Western New York; This group of multigenerational singers, actors and dancers comes from various professions and backgrounds; “Some Enchanted Evening” debuts April 25th at UpStage3, on the third floor of the Auditorium Center, 875 E. Main St.; The show will run for 11 performances over three weekends. The 10th Annual St. Joseph’s Villa Ugly Tie (and Purse) Lunch;Rochester Riverside Convention Center; Noon - 1:30 p.m.; Sponsored by Nixon Peabody LLP; Come wearing an ugly tie or carrying an ugly purse; Pass by the judges’ table upon entering, and go directly to the buffet table for lunch; The wearer of the ugliest tie and the holder of the most hideous handbag will be announced at 1:15 p.m. with the presentation of the “Tiesman Trophy” and “Nobel Purse Prize” by emcee Doug Emblidge; No speeches—simple, fun and fast; Tickets can be purchased for $40 per person or $360 per table of 10; Reservations required; For more information or to register, call 865-1550, ext. 258.

Cement Mixer Gala Benefits Flower City Habitat for Humanity;Supporters of the movement to create decent, affordable housing in Rochester’s most challenged neighborhoods will gather at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center for the third annual Cement Mixer Gala to benefit Flower City Habitat for Humanity; Proceeds support the organization’s current neighborhood revitalization of the JOSANA/Paetec Park neighborhood; Tickets are $125 and $175, which includes a VIP reception; Mixing and bonding for the cause will last from 6 - 11 p.m.; Black tie optional—tool belts and tuxes are welcome; To purchase tickets, donate auction items, purchase a program book ad, sponsor or volunteer at the event, visit gala.rochesterhabitat.org, call 546-1740, ext. 305, or e-mail krogers@rochesterhabitat.org.

YWCA 125th Anniversary Reception;Friends and supporters of the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County are invited to gather to reminisce and reconnect in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the YWCA, Sunday, May 18, from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Perkins Mansion, 494 East Ave.; A gallery of photos and memorabilia from the organization’s rich history will be on display, and some of the best bakeries in town will provide delicious cakes for guests to sample; A silent auction, “Women Artists Helping Women,” will be part of the event, thanks to many generous and talented artists who have contributed their work to benefit the YWCA; Reservations are required for the anniversary reception and may be made by calling 368-2261 or e-mailing dkenney@ywcarochester.org.; The artwork for the silent auction may be viewed on the YWCA Web site at www.ywcarochester.org; The YWCA is very appreciative of a grant received from longtime friend Sen. Friends of Wesley and NCS HealthCare’s 2nd Annual Golf Tournament;The Friends of Wesley (the charitable foundation for Wesley Gardens Nursing Home) and NCS HealthCare are hosting a golf tournament on Wednesday, June 4, at Shadow Lake; Funds raised will be used for capital improvement, upgrading our nurse call system; This project will enhance the quality of life for our residents; Interested golfers should call 241-2145 or e-mail wgceo@wesleygardens.com.
