Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield has hired a Rhode Island Blue Cross official to replace retiring Chief Financial Officer Emil Duda, Excellus officials said Thursday.
After a 39-year career with Excellus, Duda last month announced plans to retire at the end of this year.
Currently serving as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island CFO, Dorothy Coleman is slated to start at Excellus on Duda’s departure.
“(Coleman) brings both a great depth of financial and operational experience in the health care sector and a strong sense of community that make her a perfect fit,” said Christopher Booth, Excellus president and chief operating officer, in a statement.
A 27-year veteran of the health care industry, Coleman, before joining the Rhode Island organization, most recently served as United Healthcare Services Inc. chief operating officer and interim president of its public sector national line of business. She previously served as CEO of United Healthcare’s Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Indiana health plans.
Coleman also served as CFO and COO of Cigna Healthcare Medical Group Practice of Arizona and CFO and associate administrator at FHP Inc., a for-profit health care company operating in the western United States and Guam.
