EarthLink Inc., which has more than 400 employees in Rochester, has announced the launch of a new service, EarthLink TechCare.
The launch reflects an evolution of EarthLink’s acquisition of Pittsford-based Synergy Global Solutions Inc.’s IT Solution Center in October, the Atlanta-based company said.
TechCare is an outsourced help desk. It is the latest part of EarthLink’s transformation from being primarily an Internet service provider to being an IT services company targeting midsize businesses.
“Following our May launch of Cloud Workspace, a hosted desktop and virtualization application service, EarthLink TechCare further empowers clients to achieve their business objectives by expanding their IT capabilities without adding IT staff,” said Michael Toplisek, executive vice president of IT Services for EarthLink, in a statement.
The company said business services such as TechCare currently make up about 76 percent of EarthLink’s revenue.
