Gannett Co. Inc., owner of more than 80 newspapers, including the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle and USA Today, has named a new chief financial officer.
The company on Thursday said Victoria Harker will take on the role effective July 23.
Harker succeeds Paul Saleh, who left Gannett in May to join Computer Sciences Corp., an information technology services company with headquarters in Falls Church, Va.
Prior to joining Gannett, Harker was chief financial officer and president of global business services for AES Corp., a Fortune 200 electrical power company headquartered Arlington, Va.
“I am delighted to welcome someone with Victoria’s broad-ranging experience in senior financial and operational roles to our leadership team as we strategically reshape the company for the digital age,” said Gracia Martore, president and CEO of Gannett. “Her proven track record of success as a chief financial officer and demonstrated ability to create shareholder value will be true assets to Gannett as we drive toward our long-term growth objectives.”
