Dixon Schwabl Inc.  and the PGA of America have announced the details for Golf Balls on Parade, a community relations art project aimed to promote the 95th PGA Championship, which is slated to be held at Oak Hill Country Club next year.

Beginning in spring of 2013, 100 oversized fiberglass golf balls will be showcased on tees throughout the Rochester and Western New York areas, PGA officials said.

Each golf ball will receive a sponsor. Once a ball is sponsored, local artists will paint the ball with a pre-approved or new design. A portion of the sale of each golf ball will be split equally among four charities, including Hillside Work Scholarship Connection, Golisano’s Children’s Hospital, Reach for the Green and a charity of the sponsor’s choosing.

During the summer 2013, the golf balls will be incorporated into a scavenger hunt to build community support for the PGA Championship and area tourism, PGA officials said.

The PGA Championship is to be held at Oak Hill from Aug. 5 to Aug. 11, 2013, featuring some of the greatest golfers.
