An energy storage technology conference is planned for Nov. 14 at the Woodcliff Hotel in Perinton.
The New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium is the host of the event, which begins at 7:30 a.m. and runs to 5 p.m.
“NY-BEST’s mission is to grow the energy storage industry and establish New York State as a global leader,” Executive Director William Acker said in a statement. “We expect that thousands of jobs will be created in the battery and energy storage industry in the next decade.”
NY-BEST, a non-profit established in 2010, hopes to transform Building 308 at the Eastman Business Park into a testing facility. The Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council was awarded $3.5 million in state funding last year for the project.
“It is critically important that we create these resources to enable companies to conduct prototyping, testing and pilot manufacturing of the battery energy storage products,” said Mark Peterson, president and CEO of Greater Rochester Enterprise Inc.
At least 16 presenters are scheduled to attend. They include Acker; Michael Alt, director of business development at the Eastman Business Park in Rochester; and Ryne Raffaelle, vice president for research and associate provost at Rochester Institute of Technology.
