A new wireless coverage report shows Verizon Wireless Inc. and AT&T Inc. receiving top scores in the Rochester market.
The report conducted by RootMetrics, a Washington state-based company that specializes in wireless coverage mapping, rated several wireless providers’ performance in Rochester.
Verizon Wireless took top honors in data performance, while AT&T received top marks for text performance. The two carriers tied for the call performance category, while Verizon Wireless won in combined performance.
Both carriers have spent 2012 expanding their 4G networks in the Rochester area.
Verizon Wireless received the highest overall score. AT&T finished second, followed by T-Mobile USA Inc., Sprint Nextel Corp. and Cricket Communications Inc.
The report is RootMetrics’ second in the Rochester market. The first was released in May. The company said the biggest change since the report in May has been AT&T’s network upgrades. Still, it was not enough to dethrone Verizon Wireless, which also received top honors for the Rochester market in May.
