Rochester Institute of Technology set a record for number of researchers securing funding for 2012, with an increase of 5 percent over the previous year.
The university released information on sponsored research for 2012 that showed 353 researchers had secured funding, the highest ever for the university.
The accomplishment was even more impressive given the difficult funding climate, said David Bond, RIT director of sponsored research services.
“In a constrained funding environment, our investigators are working harder than ever as competition for research support intensifies,” Bond said.
In all, the investigators helped generate $43.7 million in research funding to RIT last year.
RIT also announced six inductees into its PI Millionaires group, which is a designation awarded to researchers who have achieved funding of $1 million or more since 2000. Those inducted were:
