More than 600 vacant properties in the city have been transformed into owner-occupied homes through a program offered by the Greater Rochester Housing Partnership and the Rochester Housing Development Fund Corp.

Representatives of the partnership and the RHDFC, along with city officials celebrated the accomplishments of HOME Rochester during ceremonies Friday at 275 Melville St., the newest renovated property now for sale to a first-time homebuyer.

“HOME Rochester is a collaborative program that dramatically impacts the lives of homebuyers while building healthy neighborhoods,” Jean Lowe, president of the partnership and the RHDFC, said in a statement.

Most HOME Rochester properties have new mechanical systems, lead and asbestos abatement, new roofs and siding, and renovated kitchens and bathrooms, representatives said.
