The Rochester Intellectual Property Law Association has named its Distinguished Inventor of the Year recipient and is to honor him Wednesday at the Rochester Museum and Science Center.
Ervin Goldfain, a resident of the Syracuse area, is a senior research and development scientist for Welch Allyn Inc. in Skaneateles, where he has developed design projects for the primary care, ophthalmic and optometry industries, as well as the surgical lighting markets.
He attended the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest in Romania, and continued his education at the Rochester Institute of Optics, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California at Berkeley.
The association’s membership is comprised primarily of attorneys in the practice of patent, trademark or copyright law, as well as associate members who devote substantial time to intellectual property law causes.
Most members are from the Rochester area or have an affiliation with Rochester, the association says.
The 41st annual event is from 6 to 9 p.m.
