Blue Springs Energy LLC in Webster is partnering with the New York State Association of Counties to provide information on clean energy incentives.
The association’s “Renew My Community” program is patterned after Blue Springs Energy’s partnership with Monroe County in 2010 to give residents and businesses information on reducing energy costs and improving the environmental performance buildings and vehicles.
The partnership will make the information available statewide, association officials said Monday.
“This program is meant to help facilitate clean energy economic development,” Blue Springs Energy president Laurence Simpson said in a statement.
A county with 100,000 residents can attract funding of at least $5 million from federal, state and utility sources, Simpson said. The funding, coupled with investments from owners, can generate $20 million in building upgrades and renewable energy generation each year.
“In 10 years, a county of 100,000 residents could attract $200,000 of projects that saves $220 million in energy expenses,” he said.
Clean energy incentives and grant funding of more than $1billion are available each year to upgrade buildings and fleets, officials said.
