Home Leasing LLC, in partnership with Edgemere Development Inc., has agreed to redevelop the historic Eastman Dental Dispensary Building, officials from the city of Rochester said Wednesday.
Edgemere will serve as consultant to the developer.
The dental dispensary has been identified as a “Five to Revive” priority by the Landmark Society of Western New York Inc.
It was built in 1917 by Eastman Kodak Co. founder George Eastman, and is listed in the State and National Register of Historic Places.
The dispensary left the premises in 1978 following the construction of a new dental school at the University of Rochester. The building has been vacant since 1984, documents from Landmark Society of Western New York Inc. show.
A news conference is slated for 2 p.m. Thursday on the front steps of the building, at 800 E. Main St.
Home Leasing CEO Nelson Leenhouts, Stephanie Benson, chief operating officer of Edgemere, Mayor Thomas Richards and Carlos Carballada, business development commissioner for the city are among those expected to attend.
