The pharmaceutical industry is growing worldwide and Eagle Productivity Solutions is ready to go wherever it must to meet that growth.
The Brighton-based company has been increasing its European presence in recent years, offering training and consulting services to help companies understand and use new cloud-based systems. Last month, the company announced plans to open a 2,900-square-foot training facility in Malaga, Spain, coming three years after it expanded into Germany.
The location in Malaga is a great fit for Eagle Productivity, said Robert Cannan, president and CEO. The company is located there in a technical park that also houses offices for Oracle Corp, Accenture PLC, Ericsson and other international companies.
"The people there are very happy to have us, and are actually doing a grand opening," Cannan said. "Malaga is trying to make themselves something of a high-tech center, so we're in there with Google and other international tech companies."
The move into Europe comes at a time of overall growth for Eagle Productivity, Cannan said. The company has grown 40 percent in the past year thanks to a trend in the pharmaceutical industry that has more companies using cloud-based software. Eagle Productivity provides training materials so these companies can best use their software across operations that are stretching increasingly wide.
From the base in Spain, Eagle Productivity will be able to spread out across Europe and through Russia, Cannan said. The company will write and design materials for its clients, then have native speakers transmit the information to desktops across the client's company.
"These pharmaceutical companies are moving into Europe more, and with our presence there we're able to have people who are real native speakers transmitting this information," he said. "It's not like someone who took a class in German and they're trying to relay these training materials."
Even before its move into Europe, Eagle Productivity was expanding its reach with international companies. Its client base includes 18 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies worldwide, and the company has trained users in more than 20 languages.
Eagle Productivity also is poised for overall growth. Cannan said the firm will grow to 150 employees by the end of the year after ending 2012 with 80.
This will bring growth to its Brighton headquarters, he said. Eagle Productivity plans to increase the square footage at its office by 50 percent within the next year.
Cannan also is looking for more opportunities for worldwide growth, with an eye toward Asia.
His assessment is backed up by industry experts. IMS Health Inc., a national research company that provides data to the pharmaceutical industry, predicts Asia will account for 31 percent of the $250 billion sales growth expected to take place from 2010 to 2015.
China also is poised to overtake Japan as the second-largest pharmaceutical market, behind the United States, within the next three years.
With more growth on the horizon, Cannan said Eagle Productivity is exactly where he wants it to be.
"We're right at the edge of what's going on in this industry," he said. "We're seeing more of these big firms rolling out cloud systems globally, and it requires a huge new set of work practices to be installed. We've developed intellectual property here that's been acknowledged as the best in the world, and it's going to help us expand as this market grows."
