Beer tastings at the Genesee Brew House over the last 12 months have generated nearly $55,000 for 11 charities in the Rochester area, Genesee Brewing Co. officials said.
The 11 charities received cash donations ranging from $3,000 to $10,000, representatives said. The charities were chosen based on size, mission, location and program need.
“Rochesterians feel invested in the Brew House,” General Manager Malcolm Franklin said, in a statement. “They helped pave the way by supporting their local brewery and strongly advocating for the neighborhood investment.”
The Brew House has attracted more than 200,000 visitors since it opened in September 2012, Franklin said.
“As that number grows, our ability to give back to local organizations will continue to increase,” he said.
The 11 charities supported this year are:
Proceeds from beer tastings in the first quarter of 2014 will benefit the Open Door Mission Inc. and the Advocacy Center.
