Mayor-elect Lovely Warren has selected Charles Benincasa as director of finance and promoted John Schreiber to be chief of the Rochester Fire Department, her transition team announced Monday.
Schreiber has been with the fire department since 1989, working in various divisions, a statement from the transition team said. He recently served as deputy chief and fire marshal for the city.
Benincasa has been city treasurer for 13 years. He previously was deputy treasurer, and also has worked in the mayor’s office, the Office of Management and Budget, and in the economic development department.
Kim Jones, the city’s deputy treasurer for 13 years, will replace Benincasa as city treasurer. She served as senior economic development specialist for more than one year, and before that was a financial analyst for OnBank & Trust Co.
Warren also announced that Christopher Wagner will stay on as director of the city’s Office of Management and Budget, and Tassie Demps will remain as director of human resources management.
Wagner, a city employee for 23 years, has been director since August 2012 after working primarily in the Department of Environmental Services. He was assistant budget director in the management and budget office from 2006 to 2008.
Demps, a city employee for 23 years, was appointed human resources management director in 2010.
Monday’s administrative appointments follow last week’s announcement of Delmonize Smith as commissioner of neighborhood and business development, Andrew Brown as corporation counsel and Mitchell Rowe as director of planning and zoning.
