Harris Corp.’s Rochester-based RF Communications reported Tuesday a drop in second-quarter sales.
RF Communications logged sales of $455 million, compared with revenues of $486 million a year ago. Its Tactical Communications revenue was $320 million, decreasing 5 percent, and Public Safety revenue was $135 million, decreasing 9 percent.
Operating income was $142 million, compared with $151 million a year ago.
RF Communications orders totaled $512 million. Tactical Communications orders were $387 million, increasing 35 percent from the prior year. Public Safety orders were $125 million, up 8 percent.
The results were included in Harris’ financial results for the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 27.
The Florida-based Harris reported second-quarter sales of $1.22 billion and income from continuing operations of $137 million, or $1.27 a diluted share. That compares with revenue of $1.29 billion and income from continuing operations of $142 million, or $1.25 a diluted share, a year ago.
Harris increased its fiscal 2014 guidance for income from continuing operations from $4.65 to $4.85 a diluted share to $4.80 to $4.90 a diluted share. Revenue guidance remains an expected decline of 1 to 3 percent.
