Lice clinic launches in Pittsford

Naughty Nits LLC—Rochester’s first lice clinic—is open in Pittsford.

Partners Marnie Murray and Lisa Saul picked Rochester as their second location; the company’s original site is in Buffalo. Naughty Nits was founded in 2010.

Murray and Saul use the FDA-cleared AirAlle—a medical device developed by biologists at the University of Utah—to treat their clients. The device dehydrates and kills both the head lice and their eggs in one treatment, using only heated air.

Murray is a biologist with a master’s from Yale University, and Saul is a nurse from Sheffield, England.

“There is a constant problem with head lice in our region,” Murray said in statement. “Contrary to what people believe, it is a common occurrence here, and there’s a great need for a non-toxic solution.”

The company was the first center of its kind in Buffalo.

“We are committed to reducing the use of toxic chemicals used so widely in our area to treat this problem,” Murray said. “School nurses and pediatricians used to recommend OTC pesticides. Unfortunately, these products do not work like they should.”
