Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Rochester are getting praise for their academic programs, with two national lists singling them out among the nation's best.
Rankings from U.S. News & World Report placed a number of graduate programs at RIT among the top in the country. In its annual list of the best graduate schools, the publication ranked RIT No. 27 among universities offering graduate level studies in fine art. Among the nation’s best engineering schools, the Kate Gleason College of Engineering at RIT tied for No. 90.
The Saunders College of Business also ranked No. 35 on the list of the nation's best online MBA programs. The Saunders College also ranked No. 90 among the nation's best part-time MBA programs.
U.S. News and World Report also honored UR, ranking the Simon Business School No. 35 among graduate business programs.
In a separate list, RIT also ranked as one of the top schools to study video game design in 2014. International rankings from The Princeton Review ranked the university's game design and development program No. 7 for the undergraduate level and No. 8 at the graduate level. RIT’s program is housed in the School of Interactive Games and Media within the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.
To compile the list, The Princeton Review partnered with PC Gamer to find the top 25 undergraduate and graduate schools for gaming. The schools were selected based on a survey of 150 institutions across the United States, Canada and abroad that offered video game design coursework or degrees.
