The New York State Liquor Authority adopted several immediate changes Thursday designed to reduce legislative and regulatory burdens for the craft beverage industry.
The authority simplified the registration process for brand labels and reduced paperwork for manufacturers, officials said. The moves also clarify exemptions from brand label registration fees for small batches of beer, cider and spirits.
The authority also authorized the sale of beer and cider in refillable growlers, eliminated the $1,000 surety bond for farm winery licensing, changed legislation to allow farm wineries to transport products from neighboring wineries for tastings and sales, and authorized vendors with multiple licenses to deliver all their products in one shipment.
The changes were made following Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s second Beer, Wine, Spirits and Cider Summit in Albany on Tuesday.
